Hailing from all over the world, they teach courses in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Swiss German and Bahasa Indonesia. Courses always feature small groups: this allows students more one on one attention and also helps us to get to know you better! At Blue Marlin Dive, we believe in family and find many of our students and instructors develop lifelong friendships. Each course has a maximum of 4 students per instructor and is inclusive of dive computer rental for the duration of your course.

Blue Marlin Dive is a name you can trust. Now known as Indonesia’s largest dive company, remember that Blue Marlin started out as just one instructor with a couple sets of gear intent on sharing the underwater beauty of the Gilis. 27 years down the road, we are incredibly proud to have earned numerous awards from PADI for our outstanding contributions to diver training, continuing education and the scuba industry.

Take advantage of our large network as all Blue Marlin Dive locations are happy to offer a 10% discount on all continuing education.

If you are pushed for time or just want to give yourself a head start on the theory, we recommend that you sign up for PADI’s e-learning. Learn more here.

Please be aware that diving is a physical activity and before beginning any PADI course, we must verify you are in suitable diving condition. Learn more here.

Are you ready for your big adventure? You should be! You are about to embark on a journey exploring a whole new world untouched by the frantic pace of everyday life. However, as scuba diving is a technical sport, all scuba courses require personal study time to master theory. If you’d like to clear your holiday/travel time and get a head start on your scuba ‘homework’, we recommend PADI’s E-Learning.

Learning to scuba dive has never been more convenient! Whether you’re on the go or want to take it slow, complete the knowledge development portion of your PADI course online before you arrive. The e-learning module is fairly self-explanatory but if you have any questions during the study process, please feel free to contact us. Please note that e-learning does end up being more expensive as you will pay PADI directly for the theory portion of the course on top of Blue Marlin’s discounted course price.

Why Choose eLearning?

  • Minimised class time and maximum in-water time
  • Accessibility anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week!
  • Immediate feedback and gratification through electronic content delivery
  • Complement learning with virtual modelling simulations and video clips
  • Learn at your own pace, in your own home or wherever you choose

Before You Begin Your Course

Before you arrive in Gili Air, you must be sure that you are in a suitable physical condition for the sport of diving. At the start of the course, every student must complete and sign a PADI Medical Statement, which includes a number of questions relating to your medical history. By answering the questions, you will discover if you’ll require a doctor’s check-up before taking to the water. (PADI insists on this if your medical history shows a ‘contra-indication’ to participating in diving.)

Answer each question carefully. If you are unsure of the answer to any of the questions, you should answer “yes”. Sign and date the bottom of your statement.

If any of the answers you give to the questions are “yes”, visit your doctor for a medical examination, taking your statement with you to show him/her*.

If your doctor is satisfied with your health, you are ready to start your course. However, you must bring BOTH your signed Medical Statement and your doctor’s clearance with you to Gili Air, as we are required to keep these with your training records.
